Fire Resistant Coating » Furnishing Fabric |
|
 |
Protect your furnishing fabric, curtains
mattress covers upholstery, draping material, carpets etc from fire.
Avoids short-circuits fires. Useful for clothes, air conditioning ducts
(Hessian) converting.
Easy to apply . Dose not affect the colour,
texture and flexibility of the fabric. Retains the Fire Resistant
properties even after dry cleaning the fabric. Conforms to BS-3120 When
tested as per BS-3119.
You could be aware that these flammable
material are potent fire hazards and need flame proofing to minimize fire
risk . National Building Codes Part IV Para 11.6.1 states that all fabrics
and stage setting made of combustible material for assembly buildings
shall be treated with flame proofing material . Fabric treated with
Fabkot, when in contact with fire, will only char but will not spread
flame, thereby stopping propagation of fire completely. |

FABKOT AK – 201
FLAMEPROOFNG OF
FABRICS |
Furnishing Fabrics, curtains, mattress, coir's ,
carpets etc. are highly flammable and hence, potential fire hazard,
which need flame proofing to minimize fire risk.
National
Building code part IV , Para 11.6.1 states :
“ For assembly
buildings, all fabrics and stage settings made of combustible
materials shall be treated with flame proofing materials “
FLAME PROOFED FABRIC : When in contact with fire
only char but do not spread flame.
Flame proofing is either
DURABLE or NON-DURABLE.
Flameproofing properties remain
unaffected with washing in case of durable treatment whereas the
flame proofing treatment has to be repeated after every water wash
in case of non- durable treatment.
DURABLE TREATMENT:
Durable flame proof fabrics conforming to BS 3120 tested as
per BS 3119 can be supplied to consumers specifications. However, by
virtue of the limitations in the process involved for durable
treatment, only large quantities are commercially available. There
are other obvious constraints such as limited fabrics range, non –
availability of similar co lour and shade on later date, and
inability to meet smaller requirement for partial replacements etc,
and attendant delays which result in additional cost penalties.
These constraints make durable flame proofing an expensive
proposition particularly for furnishing fabrics, curtains, mattress
covers, carpets etc. which are either never washed or rarely washed
i.e. Once in 6 months or a year but not more than a few times during
their useful service life.
NON – DURABLE FLAME PROOFING :
Provides the cost effective solution to the above problems
and is therefore universally acceptable. |

| FLAME PROOFING WITH FABKOT AK- 201 |
Flame proofing of fabrics with FABKOT AK-201 is
extremely convenient, economical and very effective. The process
involved is simple dip or spray and can be easily carried out by the
customer at his premises.
FABKOT AK-201 does not affect
flexibility, feel texture or colour fastness of the fabrics, Drape
of curtain is considerably improved due to its increased weight.
Customer therefore, enjoys liberty to choose fabrics, colors
designs and source of his choice.
GOVERNING SPECIFICATIONS
AND CERTIFICATION
Fabrics treated with FABKOT AK – 201 will
confirm to BS 3120 est as per BS 3119.

Non – flammable, colourless
liquid. |
2 |
USAGE : |
Makes cotton and non – synthetic fabrics
like curtains, furnishing clothes, carpets, including
jute/choir carpets, gray canvas, cardboard, paper and similar
material flameproof. |
3 |
SP. GRAVITY : |
1.10 |
4 |
LIMITED OXYGEN INDEX : |
Over 80 |
5 |
THINING : |
With water ( Refer to application ) |
6 |
SHELF LIFE/ KEEPING PROPERTY : |
Depends upon type of fabrics. As a thumb
rule, fabrics will consume same amount of material as when
soaked in water and gently squeezed. |
7 |
INDICATIVE CONSUMPTION : |
Curtain cloth -- 4sq.mt./Ltr, Mattress
covers -- 6sq.mt./Ltr, Furnishing fabrics -- 3sq. mt./Ltr,
Gra canvas -- 2 to 4sq. mt./Ltr( Depending upon the weight ) |
8 |
APPLICATION : |
Dip or spray materials to be treated must
be soaked and squeezed in such a manner that after drying, the
weight of the material increases by about 15 to 18 percent.
Ordinarily this can be achieved by dipping or spraying on the
material till fully wet as required for the duration of 2 to
10 minutes. Gray canvas should be socked for 1 hour to 24
hours depending upon its weight.
|
9 |
IMPORTANT : |
It is advisible to carry out patch test to
determine the coating time before carrying out application
large scale. FABKOT AK – 201 does not normally stain or
discolour the fabric. Fabrics treated with FABKOT – 201 can
withstand dry-cleaning . However , if washed, treatment must
be repeated. |
